Explorations & Concepts

Not every concept makes it to launch — but the thinking behind them is often where the best design work lives. This page showcases exploratory projects, user personas, & proof of concepts developed throughout my time at eDriving & Solera, including work on Defender & early sustainability features that informed the product direction even when priorities shifted.

Research, ideation & experimentation are at the core of how I approach design — defining user bases, staying current with emerging patterns & stress-testing new directions before committing to a solution.

Solera Universal Automotive Platform — Enterprise UX & Product Exploration

Solera's Universal Automotive Platform represents the company's broader vision of unifying its portfolio of automotive products under a single roof — giving clients the flexibility to add & remove point solutions tailored to their business needs. The dealer-focused platform brings together point solutions spanning CRM, inventory, marketing & more, with administrative tools designed to manage access & permissions across dealerships with multiple rooftops.

My contribution focused on the UI design & prototyping for two core features of the unified experience: a global search spanning all active point solutions & a global customer profile aggregating data from across the platform into a single, cohesive view of the customer. Working within Solera's design system, I translated the defined product direction into full Figma flows ready for stakeholder review.

Defender — Consumer UI & 0–1 Product Design

Most of my design work at eDriving centered on Mentor Defender, the consumer-facing component of the Mentor product suite. Unlike eDriving's fleet-based products, Defender is designed for families — specifically targeting family members of existing Mentor users, with a focus on households with young drivers.

Defender shares the core feature set of Mentor Business but required a significant rethinking of the visual language. Mentor's existing UI is built on dark blue backgrounds with white text — functional for a professional fleet context but too heavy for a consumer & family audience. Designing Defender meant inverting that foundation entirely, creating a lighter, warmer & more approachable interface while maintaining consistency with the broader product suite.

Mentor EcoDrive Powered by Greater Than — Iterative UI & Data Visualization

Mentor's integration with Greater Than introduced EcoDrive, a sustainability-focused feature that surfaces a driver's EcoScore within the app. For the initial launch, our team carried over a histogram design that had performed well in Mentor Defender — a reasonable starting point given its proven reception with a consumer audience.

However, the histogram didn't resonate as strongly with EcoDrive's fleet-based users. After gathering feedback, we revisited the design with fresh eyes. The histogram's format, while visually engaging for consumers, wasn't translating the score clearly enough in a professional context. We explored several progress bar variations & ultimately landed on a 20-point scale — a format that mapped cleanly to EcoDrive's scoring ranges & gave fleet users an immediately legible read on their performance.
