User Personas + Proof of Concepts

Research & idea generation are essential to creating a cohesive and intuitive user experience. This involves defining your user base through documentation, staying current with design trends, gathering feedback from users, & experimenting with new approaches.

Defender Inverted UI

Most of my design work at eDriving focused on the consumer-facing component of the Mentor product suite: Mentor Defender. Unlike the other Mentor products, which are tailored for fleet-based drivers, Defender is designed for the family members of existing Mentor users, with a particular focus on families with young drivers. Defender incorporates the same core features as Mentor Business, but with updated features & a lighter, more approachable UI. This involved inverting much of the existing design, as Mentor’s original UI features dark blue backgrounds with white text.

Mentor EcoDrive Powered by Greater Than

Mentor's integration with Greater Than for EcoDrive initially launched with a histogram design to display the user's EcoScore. The histogram was selected because it was well-received in Mentor Defender, the consumer-facing component of the product. However, the histogram did not resonate as strongly with EcoDrive users. After gathering feedback, our team revisited the design & concluded that a progress bar would better represent the EcoScore. We explored several options for the progress bar, ultimately settling on a 20-point scale, which effectively aligned with the different score ranges for the EcoDrive Rating.

Mandala Mindfullness for All

Breathe In. Breathe Out.

Mandala: Mindfulness for All was a student project focused on creating an accessible mindfulness app. Initially prototyped in InVisionApp—a collaborative online prototyping tool—the app's functionality, design, & interactions were later reimagined & refined using Animate CC. The app combines relaxation exercises with an introduction to mindfulness, catering to those new to the practice. Screen designs were created using Photoshop artboards.

The target audience for Mandala isn't defined by age but by lifestyle—specifically, people who are constantly connected and need a moment to recharge. I found apps like Headspace & Calm to be somewhat overwhelming when seeking simple, calming clarity, which inspired me to create a more straightforward, approachable solution.

As with my project for Aquarius Clothing Co., competitor research, user personas, site maps, & wireframes were integral to the development process. This research-driven, user-centered approach has since become the foundation of my design philosophy.

Aquarius Clothing Co

Authentic. Mystic. Progressive.

Aquarius Clothing Co. is a boutique brand targeting women aged 18-28, offering a unique blend of vintage pieces and eclectic, groovy retail items. Inspired by brands like Urban Outfitters, Gypsy Warrior, and Free People, Aquarius maintains a flagship store in Raleigh, North Carolina, while actively expanding its online presence.

Similar to the Mandala: Mindfulness for All project, extensive research into competitors, user personas, site maps, and wireframes was integral to developing the Aquarius Clothing Co. website. This research-driven, user-centered approach has become a core principle in my design process.
